BEST TRAVELS
What have you learnt from your travels?
I plan my trips to seek new food experiences. I love to visit the kitchens of restaurants or learn how a barrel is made and toasted to age wine. I will choose to stay in a certain place because I hear the food is great there. This could be in a beach village in Thailand serving amazing dishes, or a small hotel in Italy where the food served for the retirees is as great as some of the region's best restaurants.

Favorite traveling companion?
Yvette, for her joie de vivre and for never saying no to my food travel.
Your greatest travel luxury?
My Qantas memberships, which give me peace of mind.
Your favourite Aussie holiday spot?
It would have to be Fingal Bay near Port Stephens for the classic family summer beach holiday.
Any travel disasters?
My passport was to expire during a recent trip and my new one issued in the city only one hour before my departure for Paris . I made it onto the plane with 30 seconds to spare, stressed out of my mind but thinking it was all a miracle. I will never forget the look Yvette gave me: "You are a very lucky boy to be in that seat."
