The best place you've ever stayed in?

I guess it would have to be the Hotel Splendido in Portofino . A friend from Florence booked the room for me knowing the general manager would look after us. We had an incredible view over Portofino from our balcony and the room was so romantic.

Ultimate dream destination?

Up the Amazon, with no time limit, then sailing to the Galapagos Islands .

Holiday reading?

I love buying books that relate to the region I am in, that describe the original inhabitants, their conquests or defeats, the way their civilization developed and how they built their cities.

Best travel tip ?

Travel light, light, light - something I never achieve.
